REPUBLIC OF CONGO (BRAZZAVILLE): TRADE UNION TAKE ON SDG IMPLEMENTATION

Keywords : Technical document ATUDN

While the government has consulted selected stakeholders in its implementation of the 2030 Agenda, trade unions have been excluded from this process. Trade unions note some areas of progress but also outline many barriers, most prominently to achieving decent work, ending poverty and achieving gender equality. However, unions stress the need for strategically targeted capacity building and education to build a stronger and better skilled labour force. Trade unions also alert to the need to address child labour, which is notably linked to ongoing humanitarian crises in the region.
