It was with a great emotion and sadness that we learned of this tragedy that has caused the loss of more than 80 lives in Zimbabwe.

In this sorrowful moment and being very much aware of the impact that these human
and material damages will have caused to the economy of Zimbabwe and more
particularly for the situation of the Zimbabwean workers, we wish to extend our
heartfelt condolences and those of all African workers to you and to the people of
Zimbabwe. We wish speedy recovery to the injured.

We join the ZCTU in urging the government of Zimbabwe to seriously reinforce
preventive measures to prevent loss of lives and curtail the impact of such disasters in
future.

In Solidarity.

Kwasi Adu-Amankwah
General Secretary
