MALI: TRADE UNION TAKE ON SDG IMPLEMENTATION

Keywords : Technical document ATUDN

Some efforts to consult civil society have been made in Mali. On the climate front, the government has, in consultation with trade unions, dedicated funding to the implementation of climate actions. However, the context of high labour informality and dropping trade union membership make for serious impediments for progress towards achieving decent work for all. Some positive steps have been taken to improve female representation within decision-making processes, but women contribute to an average of ten times more unpaid work per day than men. For a directed and cohesive approach, trade unions recommend that a clear lead be identified for the coordination of SDG implementation, and for the local dimension of this implementation to be reinforced.
